The amount of headroom you’ll need for your new roller garage door will depend on a variety of factors, including which model you have purchased.

How much headroom do you need?
All our roller garage doors are fully boxed as standard, which means they can be fitted below the lintel in your garage. However, if you’d prefer the door to be fitted up and behind the lintel to maximise the opening, there is a certain amount of headroom that will be required.
If you’re having an RD55 model installed, you need 205mm2. Or, if you go for the RD77 model, you’ll require 300mm2, but as the top box has a front fascia, if you only have a headroom of 100mm, then it is possible to install the door up behind this and have the remaining fascia coming down into the opening, giving you as much height as possible.
What other measurements are needed?
To ensure we supply you with a roller garage door that best fits your property, we ask all customers to provide us with some key measurements. We can then cut your new door to the perfect size for you.
These measurements are as follows:
- Opening width
- Opening height
- Headroom height
- Side room
